Instrumental Music
Instrumental Music is on Tuesdays and works on a rotating roster to make sure students don't miss out on the same learning area every week. To support IM lessons, students are required to practise at least 10-20mins, 5 times a week, it is much better to do a little each day than to practise 30 mins once a week, it is amazing what a difference this makes!
The Queensland Instrumental Music Curriculum
The Queensland Instrumental Music Curriculum is available to students in years 4 - 6 and seeks to provide students the opportunity to further develop their musical interest and abilities. The program allows students to play both individually and as a member of an ensemble while at school and in the community.
Students are offered the choice of a variety of instruments including flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, bass guitar and percussion (drums).
Instrumental instruction is offered in groups of 3-10 for one half hour per week. Attendance at these lessons is mandatory and punctuality must be maintained.
Various performance opportunities are available throughout the year. These may include parade performances (either solo or small group), the CH Festival of Bands and the CH Eisteddfod held in Emerald.
An intake assessment for Year 3 students is held in Semester 2 each year.
A student resource scheme is in place for payment for this program.
Further information about the IM program is available in the parent information booklet available from the schools office
